3年B組金八先生は、TBSが1979年から2011年まで足かけ33年にわたって断続的に制作・放送して来た教育ドラマ・学園ドラマである。 名実ともに坂本金八役の武田鉄矢の代表作でもあり、当たり役となった。
ストーリーの主要部は1時間枠の連続ドラマとして放送され、第1シリーズから第8シリーズまでのレギュラー放送が完了。このほか、連続ドラマの各シリーズ間に挿入される形で、単発のスペシャルドラマが11作品放送されている。
ドラマで扱われるテーマには時勢も反映され、教育現場においての時代に応じた課題が扱われることも多い。
各シリーズは週1回で放送され、期間は10月開始の翌年3月終了の原則2クール（6か月）だが、第3シリーズのみ12月終了の1クール（3か月）となっている。近年の連続ドラマでは「1クール（3ヶ月）」完結が多い中で、きわめて少ない2クールの部類である。
Eight B class money teachers are an educational dramas and the educational institution dramas that TBS intermittently was foot imposing and produced and broadcast from 1979 to 2011 for 33 years for three years. It was a most important work of [tetsuya] Takeda of eight [sakamotokane] posts, and it became a hit post both nominally and virtually, too.
The main part of the story is broadcast as a serial drama of the one-hour slot, and the regular broadcasting from the 1st series to the 8th series is completed. Besides this, a special drama of single-engined is broadcast by 11 works in the shape inserted between each series of the serial drama.
The age is reflected in the theme treated with the drama, and the problem corresponding to the age in an educational site is taken up.
Each series is broadcast during the week by one time, and only the third series is cool one in December though the period is cool principle 2 of the end (six months) next March of beginning in October of the end (three months). It is an extremely little class of two cool in the serial drama in recent years while there are a lot of "Cool one (three months)" conclusions.
